What do we do? | UoB | UWE | Other Students in Bristol | Book an Appointment | Contact Us

Bristol has a harm reduction approach to drug use by students. This means that universities in Bristol recognise that some students choose to use alcohol and other drugs and believe that providing advice and support to students will improve the safety and wellbeing of the student population.

What do we do?

We provide a free, confidential, non-judgemental service for people who want to talk to a trained practitioner about their substance use.

We’re not here to tell you what to do, we’re just here to support you. Whether that be to stop using completely, to cut down, or to get advice on how to use in a safer way.

*Reagent kits for University of Bristol students only.

University of Bristol student?

As part of Bristol’s harm reduction approach, we have partnered with the University of Bristol and Bristol Students Union to provide specialist support for UoB students on campus every Thursday.

We have a drop-in space at Royal Fort Gatehouse that will be open from 1pm – 4:30pm every Thursday.

Here, you can grab a free Reagent testing kit and get the opportunity to have a harm reduction chat about your drug use.

If you feel you would like some support around your drug or alcohol use, we also provide 6 sessions of 1-2-1 support, these could be online, telephone, or in-person appointments on campus.

Use the form below to book an appointment. (Please only book an in-person appointment if you are a University of Bristol student).

UWE student?

At the University of the West of England, they have an in-house drug and alcohol service for students that want to discuss their substance use with a professional.

If you’re a UWE student who wants support, head to their website to find out how to book an appointment.

Not a UoB or UWE student?

No worries – we’ve still got you! We offer 1-2-1 appointments to all university students in Bristol.
