Volunteer at BDP

Volunteer at BDP
Volunteers have been at the heart of BDP’s work for more than 36 years: they add breadth and depth to what we do and we have real expertise in nurturing their potential. Volunteering at BDP provides:
- experience of working in a front-line service which offers a well-trodden route into education, training or work;
- development of inter-personal skills – benefiting relationships all round
- a positive contribution to Bristol at large and some of the city’s most marginalized communities
BDP has a long and proud history of working with volunteers. We strongly value volunteers’ contribution to our services and have been accredited with Investing In Volunteers since February 2009.
We are now recruiting for 7 different roles! Project, Club and Festival, Creative Communities, Allotment, Admin and Phone, Diverse Communities and Youth Volunteers.
Project Volunteers
Project Volunteers are based out of our Health & Harm Reduction Centre. Project Volunteers work alongside our Engagement Team in a client-facing capacity helping run our advice centre, needle exchange, and helpline, among other things.
Administration Volunteers
Administration Volunteers are based out of our central offices and sit in the bustling Engagement Team office. Admin Volunteers will assist with the day to day running of BDP, helping with a wide range of admin duties such as data entry, filing, photocopying and other office tasks particularly around blood-borne virus testing data and Naloxone tracking data.
Club & Festival Outreach Volunteers
Love live music and passionate about reducing the harms associated with taking club and party drugs? Club & Festival Outreach Volunteers support our Engagement Team to deliver harm reduction and advice to club and festival-goers. Our team is posted at all big events and clubs around Bristol, such as Love Saves The Day, Tokyo World, Pride, Motion and Lakota, and in educational settings.
Diverse Communities Volunteer
We are looking for volunteers to assist our Diverse Communities Link Worker in engaging communities across Bristol. This would suit someone who is passionate about inclusivity and has the ability to connect with people from many different backgrounds. Multiple languages would be a real plus too!
Youth Group Volunteers
Our Youth Groups support 8-16 year-olds who have been affected by substance use in the family unit, giving them a chance to be themselves and relieve some pressure at home. If you are passionate about supporting young people and have the enthusiasm to get stuck into lots of different activities, you will be perfect for this role.
Creative Communities Volunteers
Our Creative Communities use the power of music and self-expression as a therapeutic tool, connection to a community and self-discovery. Creative Communities volunteers will be working with our Rising Voices and Recovery Orchestra supporting the group leaders with the running of the groups.
Allotment Volunteers
Got green thumbs and a passion for inclusive access to the outdoors? We are looking for volunteers to help with the running and management of our St Wherburgs allotment.
