This year at Adelina Yard, we will be supporting BDP (Bristol Drugs Project) as our chosen charity. BDP has been supporting adults, children and families affected by alcohol and other drugs for 34 years, positively impacting some of our city’s most vulnerable people.

We chose BDP as we want to support a local charity that works in our community with the issues that effect it. Despite great efforts across Bristol’s hospitality industry, problematic alcohol and drug use remains a widespread issue for many employees and customers in restaurants and bars. BDP understands that not everyone who drinks or takes drugs has a problem, but they are here to help those that do and want to help break the stigma so more people can access the support they need.

At Adelina Yard we are already supporting BDP by hosting their new mindful-drinking social nights which feature an entirely alcohol-free bar. Attracting people who are just having a night off the booze or are alcohol-free, the nights bring a much needed fresh option to Bristol’s nightlife.

Money raised throughout this year’s fundraising appeal will be going directly to BDP’s Creative Communities – a programme of free, open-access groups for adults affected by alcohol and other drugs, providing supportive spaces to connect and nurture recovery through creativity. As of 2020, Creative Communities include weekly groups for orchestra, choir, drama and art, as well as a dedicated group for people aged over 50 who are more vulnerable to isolation.

As part of the charity partnership, we will be offering Adelina Yard customers the opportunity to make a donation of £1 with their bill. We will also be donating Adelina Yard vouchers as prizes to Creative Communities fundraising raffles. Stay tuned throughout the year to find out how this partnership and your donations are supporting the wonderful work of BDP’s Creative Communities.
