Recruiting | Family Support Worker (Social Care)
Are you as passionate about supporting people whose lives are affected by alcohol or other drugs as we are?
Now in our 37th year, BDP is an expert, energetic charity working with over 4,000 people a year in a vibrant city with an increasingly diverse population.
You will work closely with Bristol City Council as part of Bristol’s early response for families, Families in Focus and Children’s Social Care, providing intensive specialist support for substance-using parents where their children have a Children in Need or Child Protection Plan.
Based at BDP, you will work across the city with parents for up to six months, using twice-weekly home visits as a pivotal point of engagement. You will facilitate their engagement and retention in Bristol’s Recovery Orientated Alcohol & Drugs Service (ROADS). The focus of the role is to safeguard children and support parents to make positive changes to their substance use, helping them to navigate the impact of their substance use on both themselves and their children. To do this successfully, the role will work closely with Children’s Social Care and other services that may provide a range of support to meet their individual needs.
If you are passionate about working with people, substance use and recovery, have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and are able to work well in a multiagency partnership, this could be the new opportunity that you are seeking.
