Recruiting | Intensive Family Support Worker

You will be working closely with Bristol City Council as part of Bristol’s early response for families, Families in Focus and Children’s Social Care, providing intensive specialist support for parents experiencing problems with alcohol or drugs, where their children have Children in Need or a Child Protection Plan.

Based at BDP you will work across the city with parents for up to six months, using twice weekly home visits as a pivotal point of engagement. You will facilitate their engagement and support their retention in Bristol’s Recovery Orientated Alcohol & Drugs Service (ROADS). The focus of the role is to safeguard children and to motivate parents to make positive changes to their alcohol and other drug use. You will understand and respond to the impact parental alcohol or other drug use is having on children and the harm of Adverse Childhood Experiences. To do this successfully, the role will work closely with Children’s Social Care, Families in Focus and other services that may provide a range of support to meet parents’ individual needs.

If you are passionate about working with people, knowledgeable about alcohol and drugs, have excellent organisational skills and are able to work well in a multiagency partnership, this is for you!
