Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing developed over thousands of years as part of the traditional medicine of China, Japan and other Eastern countries. It involves the insertion of needles into acupuncture points just beneath the body surface.
How does Acupuncture help?
- Relaxation and stress reduction
- Treatment and reduction of effects of withdrawing from opiates and especially from stimulants
- Excessive sensitivity during withdrawal, along with insomnia, restlessness and stomach cramps
- Strengthening digestion, kidney and liver function, regulating blood circulation, body temperature and promoting the circulation of oxygenated blood
- Many of the debilitating symptoms of hepatitis C can be alleviated by acupuncture.
Ear Acupuncture
Ear acupuncture works especially well for people who are drug dependent. It is especially beneficial for people cutting down, or coming off all stimulant drugs, opiates and benzos, or if you are reducing or coming off Methadone.
What to expect in a session
Full body acupuncture is normally on a one-to-one basis, ear acupuncture is normally part of a group session. With ear acupuncture five half inch needles are inserted 2mm under the skin at specific points in the ear. There is a slight immediate pain when the needles are inserted but it quickly goes. Afterwards you will either sit or lie down quietly for 30–40 minutes.
