Change Programme
The Change Programme offers a range of services that take individuals from thinking about changing their drug-using behaviour through various stages to the point where they can sustain a drug-free lifestyle.
So, if someone is just beginning to explore the problems caused by drug use, and they are looking for support with their detox, or want help with staying away from problematic drug-use, then this is the best service for them.
Service users can move through the programme at their own pace, repeating sections if necessary. They can also enter at the stage that is appropriate to them. The service is free and confidential.
Information Session
This is every Wednesday at 3.30pm. We talk about CHANGE and offer
anyone interested in joining a one-to-one assessment. No need to book, just turn
up and ask for the Change Information Session.
Preparation Group
This group meets once a week and is for anyone who is thinking about
changing their drug use. It is a chance to learn about being in a
group.
Foundation Group
The aim of this group is to help people face the reality of their drug use and
change thinking patterns and behaviour. This group will help clarify the
next step, which may be to plan a detox, or arrange a place at rehab. The
group meets three times a week.
Action Group
This group meets weekly to give support in reaching goals, and offers a
range of activities, all of which build confidence and provide a social
network.
Detox Support Project
This is a partnership project with Bristol Specialist Drugs Service. It
offers support and advice to prepare and implement a detox plan, whether in
the community or as an in-patient.
Relapse Prevention (RAP)
This is for people who have ended their problematic
drug-use and want to develop the skills needed to maintain a drug-free
lifestyle. Individual and group work weekly.
Peer Support
People who have completed our group work programme, and are drug-free, are
invited to make use of on going support from others in a similar situation.
Activities Programme
Available to those involved with the later stages of the Change Programme.
Activities include: cycling, climbing, gym, country walks, board games,
yoga, horse riding, canoeing and theatre visits. The aim is to provide
social and purposeful activities that distract from drug use and boredom.
Some will be restricted to drug-free clients.
Workshops
BDP offers one-off workshops on specific topics such as Anger Management,
Sleep Problems, Living With Hep C, Assertiveness, Drug-Using Couples,
Relaxation Techniques, Cannabis, Nutrition and Dealing With Cravings.
