Instead of that 'Birthday Drink'... Raising Money for BDP

13th July 2012

A few days ago I took a call from Linford Briant.  He told me that he was raising money for BDP by doing a sponsored 50 mile walk which would take him along the Cotswold Way, from Bristol to Cheltenham on WEDNESDAY 18 JULY. He'd decided to convince people to sponsor him the price of 'a drink', instead of buying him one on his birthday.

I of course said 'thank you,' but also, 'why us?' Here's why Linford is raising money for BDP…

"I thought I would do something different for my 25th birthday and raise money for a local charity. I am not personally familiar with BDP's services, but I read your 2010/11 Annual Review, and saw that you are doing excellent work: drugs and alcohol cause real problems for many people and I want to support a charity that is really making a difference to this problem in Bristol."

With generous donations from his colleagues, family and everyone at University of Bristol Lunchtime Football Group, Linford has already exceeded his £150 target. If you'd like to sponsor him the price of 'a drink' then he's on Facebook, or you can contact him via us at info@bdp.org.uk and we'll pass your details to Linford.
